Birding

I don't very often take the time to birdwatch, but I have a couple of friends who like to and one who is absolutely avid. This morning I took the time to go with Bread Loafers to the Randall Davey Audobon Center in Santa Fe to appreciate some of the wildlife here.

So what did we see? hummingbirds of a couple of kinds, a northern flicker, scrub jays, plenty of black-headed grosbeak, canyon towhee, spotted towhee (which have a distinctive whistle I hear all the time out my windows, a Bullock's oriole, lesser goldfinch, and a number of housefinchs. If you look closely in the couple of pictures I've posted with the bird feeders in them, there is a housefinch and a hummingbird. I need a better camera for this kind of thing!

The center provided the binoculars, and we had a really great guide who just loves her birds. It was a great way to get out in the morning and do something a little different.
