Two Saturdays, two hikes

Enoch and I have always enjoyed hiking, but it's taken us a while to feel confident in going out with Asher and knowing he would be comfortable with it. A few weeks ago we decided it was time. Time will soon run out as the weather heats up, so we needed to take advantage fast!

Our first hike, we went up to Siphon Draw in Lost Dutchman State Park. We took Enoch's brother and his family with us. It was a warm afternoon, and there were plenty of hikers out with us. It is quite a rise in elevation so a good workout. Enoch had Asher in the trusty Ergo Carrier on his front side. He would later say that he wished he had worn him on his back because having him on the front made seeing where he was stepping a bit difficult. I for sure would have never been able to carry him because I am way too clutzy. I really like hiking, but I also know that I am prone to sliding or stumbling a few times every time I go.

We had some great views, but I left the camera back at the car, so no good viewing here, but it was a great day to be out.

So good that we were ready to hit the trail again the next Saturday. This time we settled on one of our favorite hikes--the Wind Cave up at Usery Mountain Regional Park. There were plenty of hikers out once again, but we still managed to get a decent parking spot, and it wasn't too crowded once we got to the cave. People loved seeing Asher up there, and more than one person commented on the "little hiker" we had with us. This time Enoch put him on his back, and he was content there, and even fell asleep for much of the way. I would think all of the jostling of the walk would be unsettling, but apparently babies find it quite comfortable.

Some of the cactus were in bloom, so I got a few pictures of the pretties. I'll also include a photo of the common desert terrain--for your viewing pleasure, of course!
