Julia turns 1! (52 weeks)

To prepare for the day, I spent some time making these beauties--cookies 'n cream cupcakes from this blog here. They were absolutely delicious by the way. Good thing we had a number of eaters so we didn't eat too many.
We spent the morning of the birthday at the zoo. We were really going for the splash pad and to use our year membership one last time. It was a hot day and there weren't many people, which was glorious. We didn't see many animals, but we did get a good view of the elephant (Do you see him in the photo?). The elephant was soaking up as much coolness from the mister above him as possible. I would not like to be an animal at the PHX Zoo.
Ah, the splash pad. With fewer people, Julia could get in on the action and have a grand time.
This was just a sweet shot of Enoch with out cuties. He's a sweet dad. :) He's cuddling Asher here because Asher gets so cold when he gets out of the water--even if it's over 100 degrees. His lips turn blue and he shivers. That kid needs to get some meat on his bones. heh heh
For dinner we had Jill and Rob and their girls and Jessica and Matt and Colin in from Oklahoma. It was so fun to have so much family around. :) We ate Cafe Rio knock off salads and then had the cupcakes for dessert. Julia didn't care to stuff her face in the cupcake. She's too much of a lady for that. But no worries, she still made a mess of herself and loved every bite.
Happy birthday, Julia! Here's to another year of greatness and more cuteness. You have been a blessing to our family, and I really can't imagine life without you. :)
