Asher is definitely talking more these days. He parrots lots of things we say, and he is talking in short phrases and very simple sentences. We are seeing definite progress which is a relief to me. It's also fun to discover the things he knows as he is able to express them.
Case in point. One evening recently, Enoch and I were finishing up dinner while Asher ran out in the backyard to play. He'd been outside for a couple of minutes, when he came back in, ran up to the side of the table, and announced to us, "Bird died."
What?!? So I say, "Asher, what are you talking about? Is there a dead bird in the yard or something?"
He has been saying the word bird for a while, and we have discussed death in terms of dead bugs and such, but we've never talked about dead birds.
Enoch decided to investigate, so he headed out into our yard. Sure enough, after doing a quick walk through, he found a dead bird over in the back corner. Yuck. He brought the carcass into the house to dispose of it. Gross.
But yes, Asher, you were most certainly correct in your report of your findings in the yard. Thanks for sharing, little buddy. I'm so glad that you could use your simple and sweet means of expression to alert us to what needed to be taken care of.
