The goal this year for me was to incorporate a few traditions into our festivities. The process allowed Enoch and I to have an interesting discussion about traditions. His family didn't ever really have a whole lot because there were just too many kids to contend with, but I think they are important for family solidarity. So we put together a little Easter basket for Asher which was mostly books and a few eggs with some plain M&M's and a few jelly beans in them. IN the future, I'd like to hide the basket like my family did when I was little, but for now, no need to hide. Asher did get a big smile on his face when he discovered the basket on Sunday morning. He especially loves The Belly Button Book. (If you haven't read this, you should. It will make you smile.)
We dyed eggs as well--at least Enoch and I did. Asher just wanted to make a mess, so we let the grown ups take part in this tradition this year. I had a tye dye kit left over from last year. Can you see the effects? Enoch did the non tye dye ones because he wanted to be different.
Otherwise our Easter was pretty quiet and uneventful. We went to church; we ate monkey bread and breakfast casserole for breakfast. We enjoyed a peaceful day. :)
