The Christmas that was.

And I really have no pictures to show for it.

We spent the Christmas in Hyder as is our annual tradition. But this time all four of us were sick with a nasty cold that started with Asher about a week before the holiday. Fun times for sure. Sleeping was hard. Finding peace was hard. But we made it, and we managed to have a pretty decent time. I was glad to come home to my own bed though.

Enoch and Asher probably had the best time of all. Two of Enoch's brothers were down from Utah, so they had a great time paintballing, shooting guns, and playing Airsoft. They also did a whole lot of work for their parents. As they age and since Enoch's dad had a stroke last summer, keeping up their place out in the remote desert, is pretty difficult for them, but the boys did a whole lot of maintenance, clean up, and hauled some scrap metal into the valley, things are hopefully more livable for them out there. Enoch's dad is so tied to that land and the place that Enoch doubts his dad could leave there unless he absolutely had to, so we'll see if we'll be headed there next Christmas too.

As for Asher's Christmas, he still really didn't get the concept of presents and gifts. He didn't care about ripping paper open and frankly, Santa was just a scary man to him rather than a point of excitement. But he did love getting a bunch of new trains, some cars, and some new books. He also got a new little Razor scooter from his dad. He's a bit little for it yet, but he should be able to pick up on it in the coming months. Enoch hopes it will help him with balance and future bike riding.

Julia just enjoyed being cute and flashing her smiles at everyone. I was grateful she slept well while we were there even if the rest of us struggled a bit. The pack and play did well for her. :)
