Christmas visit

I took a few minutes this morning to steal away from school to deliver some Christmas goodies to my favorite Arizona Tempe missionary—Drew Morin. To my surprise he was actually working in the mission office when I got there, so I got to steal in a little face-to-face visit too!

Drew is the best of obedient missionaries, so I tried not to stay very long to keep the comfort level from turning to completely weird. I know I shocked him with my presence, and I think there has to be this incredibly strange feeling to have your personal and pre-mission life suddenly enter your mission life. I hadn't thought about that too much until my brother-in-law Matt said something about the weird feeling he had visiting a missionary friend here in Mesa while they were here at Thanksgiving. He said he never saw people from his pre-mission life while in Brazil and it would have felt very strange if he had. it definitely would take away your focus for a bit.

But Drew looked great and is doing really well. He only has a couple months left before he returns home, and because he is so obedient and such a good leader, he is an assistant to the President of his mission. That kid will always do great things because of who he is. He stays so busy and is such a great example to his fellow missionaries I am sure.

I'm glad I caught him even if it wasn't the most comfortable of situations for him. I didn't get a picture. He probably wouldn't have liked that too well. Merry Christmas, Drew!
